The second installment of Rs 500 will be available to Mahila Jan Dhan Bank account holders from Monday, the finance ministry said in a statement. The announcement was made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaram in March.
To help the poor in the wake of the Koro epidemic, the government announced on March 8 that Rs 500 would be deposited in the accounts of Mahila Jan Dhan Bank account holders for the next three months.
Financial Services Secretary Debashish Panda said on Twitter that Rs 500 has been deposited in the bank accounts of women account holders of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana in May under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan package.
As per the scheme decided by the government, Rs 500 will be credited to the accounts of the account holders whose last digit is 0 or 1 on May 9. The last digit of the account is 3 or 4, the amount will be credited to their account on May 5.
